A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Yahaya was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993 and admitted as a solicitor to the Law Society of England and Wales in 2015. During the course of his professional career, he served as Legal Adviser to Aso Savings and Loans Plc – a Primary Mortgage Institution (PMI) – and Company Secretary to First Alliance Pension and Benefits Limited (now part of ARM Pensions – a provider of pension fund administration services).

Yahaya is the founder and Senior Partner of Law Allianz, an entertainment attorney with core expertise in Gaming, Sports, Technology, Media & E-commerce. He is one of Africa’s leading solicitors for gaming, sports and media, a renowned thought leader a sought-after speaker in Africa’s gaming space, and currently serving as the Africa Legal Adviser for iGaming business. He has presented several papers at industry conferences, advised some of Europe’s leading sports/gaming brands i.e., bet365, BetKing, Betway etc. and has been featured in several magazines like Casino review, i-gaming Times and Sigma magazines. Yahaya has advised the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, Nigeria Copyrights Commission, National Lottery Regulatory Commission etc. and currently serves as a member of the Securities Exchange Commission “Blockchain and Virtual Financial Assets Framework Committee”. He also chairs the Eminent Focal Group of Sports Industry Thematic Group in the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) and is a member of the Sports Industry Working Group which delivered a draft National Sports Industry Policy (NSIP) awaiting the Federal Executive Council’s approval.

In 2020, Yahaya was elected the chairman of the Nigeria esports Caretaker Committee and Kaduna State esports Association in 2021. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Recreation and Sports Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association, is also a two-time Chairman of the Entertainment, Media and Sports Committee of the Section of Business Law (SBL) Nigeria Bar Association and a Council Member of the SBL(NBA).

He is currently undergoing the Senior Executive Programme – Africa (SEPA) at Harvard Business School.
